Poverty and peer pressure are some of the major challenges faced by girls in the Kamimibi and nearby villages. Most of these girls end up getting married at an early age, which interferes with their education, health and acquisition skills that are necessary for them to survive. To address this issue, Liberi School organized an all-girls camp from 1st to 5th December 2023, which accommodated 80 girls aged between 11 and 14, some of whom were school dropouts from the community.

During the camp, the girls were taught about various topics such as menstruation, hygiene, sitting position, survival skills, good habits, the importance of education, and drug and sexual abuse. Health personnel from the Siamatika clinic also educated the girls about the dangers of early pregnancies and cervical cancer. The girls had fun playing different traditional games, football, and netball. They also enjoyed listening to campfire stories.

The camp was a great success, and the girls gained knowledge that would help them make proper decisions as they grow. They will also be able to educate their friends in the community to make the right choices. After the camp, the girls received a goodie bag consisting of Chitenge/rapper, bathing soap, pads, toothbrush, and paste, and several other goodies. Most importantly, they left with the knowledge that they will use in  their daily lives and in the future.
